KOH NANG YUAN – KOH TAO – THAILAND

You’re going to Koh Tao? Then you must visit Koh Nang Yuan. It’s the most beautiful island I have ever set foot on and I have been on many islands.

I got that Maldives feeling when I was there, it felts so clean, pure and a little bit romantic. It is definitely somewhere to stay with your lover. We didn’t stay here, we just took a boat over for the day! Had some lunch, did some hiking and enjoyed sunbathing on the exotic beach.

If you are staying in Koh Tao, just head down to the main harbour and ask for your own boat! It’s so much nicer than getting the arranged one and it means you can get there before it gets busy. The boat cost like £10 there and back. The benefits of going on your own boat are you can choose when you want to go and come back, you can go before everyone else and it’s bloody beautiful!

We arrived before midday, it was rather quiet on the island. I would do the same if I was you as you want to hike to the top of the island before it gets too hot and too busy as the trek is hard and the path is small. Make sure you take insect repellant, as the hike is through lots of bushes with lots of insects that love BLOOD! Look at the picture below, the viewpoint is on that rock at the top of the land…

The hike takes about 20 minutes, depending on how fast you go of course! By the time we got to the top, we were dripping with sweat. I really don’t know how people get nice photos at the viewpoint because we all looked like drowned rats. No matter how bad we looked and how much we got bit, the hike was worth it… check out the view!

There were a few tourists at the top when we got there and the island was quiet so I can’t imagine how busy it gets when the island is packed. People kept jumping in front to get photos. It was very annoying and dangerous. I had to explain to a father and daughter how queues work as they kept pushing in front. They were so keen I thought they were going to fall off the edge. So yeah, just be careful and patient when you are up there.

When we got back down we had some lunch and chilled on the beach. There is only one little restaurant here which is expensive (for Asia) but it was very yummy! Another cool thing about this island is you can only consume food and drinks in one area which keeps the island clean.

After some sunbathing and chilling in the crystal clear water, we decided to go for a swim! We headed out to a rock nearby…

Honestly, this island is amazing. I could spend a week there! I’m guessing the huts that are for rent there are probably very expensive, but if you need a week to chill this is the place to go! I want to go back already.
